MAGSA has partnered with SGMA Water Analytics (SWA) as its data management provider for all wells producing more than 2 acre-feet of water annually using meter and telemetry systems.

Last month, The Bureau of Reclamation approved the scope of work for the final step in the Aquaterra Water Bank cultural resources survey. As part of this process, a team of archaeologists and a backhoe operator excavated a trench at each location, examining soil for buried cultural resources. No cultural resources were found during the digging process. Engineering consultants at TetraTech will release a detailed cultural resources report describing their process and findings.

The Kings Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs), including MAGSA, submitted updated Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) and the first Periodic Evaluation to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) by the January 31, 2025 deadline.

The MAGSA Board of Directors adopted a Groundwater Well Metering, Measurement, Monitoring and Construction Policy in February 2021 and corresponding Implementing Rules & Regulations which required MAGSA landowners with wells producing more than 2 acre-feet of water annually to install meter and telemetry on their wells by January 31, 2025.

At the February Board Meeting, the McMullin Area Groundwater Sustainability Agency (MAGSA) Board of Directors approved the Enforcement Policy & Penalty Guidelines. The goal of the Policy is to promote compliance with MAGSA’s rules and regulations through the adoption and application of consistent enforcement practices and to ensure that landowners and entities receive due process. MAGSA intends for this Policy to promote a consistent approach to enforcement actions, to make enforcement a high priority, and to promote a culture of compliance within MAGSA.
