Grower Irrigation Academy Fall Events: Irrigators Invited to Register for Workshop & Field Day
Following a Grower Irrigation Academy summer webinar series reaching about 90 attendees, the McMullin Area Groundwater Sustainability Agency (MAGSA) and Fresno State’s Center for Irrigation Technology (CIT) are gearing up for a fall season of hands-on learning opportunities for local growers and irrigators.
As we move into the fall, MAGSA and Fresno State’s Center for Irrigation Technology (CIT) will continue partnering to bring relevant, field-focused topics to the Grower Irrigation Academy.
The Grower Irrigation Academy provides practical, research-based education designed to help growers make informed decisions about irrigation efficiency and water management within the McMullin Area GSA region.
Workshop: Using Data to Schedule Irrigation

Farm managers and irrigators will learn how to use real field data to create efficient irrigation schedules. The hands-on workshop covers how to access and interpret flow meter and soil moisture data using the SGMA Water Analytics (SWA) App, understand evapotranspiration and crop coefficients, and develop a personalized irrigation plan. Participants will also learn how data-driven decisions can improve crop health, reduce costs, and support local groundwater management under SGMA.
Field Days: Data in the Field: Hands-On Irrigation Efficiency Training
November 18 (English), November 19 (Spanish) & November 20 (Punjabi) 9:30 AM- 12:30 PM | Terranova Ranch
This hands-on field day gives irrigators and farm managers the chance to apply what they learned in the workshop. Participants will see a flow meter calibration and distribution uniformity demonstrations, and learn how to use a tensiometer to measure soil moisture to make better irrigation decisions.
You will have a chance to take home a tensiometer for continued use on your farm!
