MAGSA Landowners will Receive Letters Describing Meter & Telemetry Installation Enforcement Measures

The MAGSA Board of Directors adopted a Groundwater Well Metering, Measurement, Monitoring and Construction Policy in February 2021 and a corresponding Implementing Rules & Regulations which required MAGSA landowners with wells producing more than 2 acre-feet of water annually to install meter and telemetry on their wells by January 31, 2025.

At MAGSA’s board meeting in February 2025, Board members approved a memorandum outlining enforcement actions for landowners who did not meet the January 31, 2025 installation deadline. Penalties for noncompliance include monthly fees and, eventually, the shutdown of non-compliant wells.

Landowners will soon receive a letter outlining fines and penalties for noncompliance and are encouraged to contact MAGSA with questions or concerns.
