Meter & Telemetry Installation Deadline has Passed. What’s next?

The MAGSA Board of Directors adopted a Groundwater Well Metering, Measurement, Monitoring and Construction Policy in February 2021 and corresponding Implementing Rules & Regulations which required MAGSA landowners with wells producing more than 2 acre-feet of water annually to install meter and telemetry on their wells by January 31, 2025.

Currently, more than 80% of these wells in the MAGSA region are compliant! A huge thank you to our landowners who met the January 31, 2025 meter and telemetry installation deadline. MAGSA staff has now moved into enforcement on landowners who have not complied. At MAGSA’s February board meeting, the board approved a memorandum outlining these enforcement measures, which include monthly penalties and ultimately shutting down a non-compliant well. 

The Meter and Telemetry Rebate will still be available to landowners while funds remain.
