Updated GSP and Periodic Evaluation Submitted to CA DWR

The Kings Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs), including MAGSA, submitted updated Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) and the first Periodic Evaluation to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) by the January 31, 2025 deadline.

The Kings Basin Periodic Evaluation provides an assessment of the groundwater sustainability efforts within the Kings Subbasin (which is made up of seven Groundwater Sustainability Agencies, including MAGSA.) This evaluation includes updates on groundwater conditions, and progress on sustainability projects, and outlines future actions to achieve the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) objectives by 2040. The report highlights collaborative initiatives among the seven Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) in the subbasin, emphasizing infrastructure investments and policy implementations aimed at mitigating groundwater overdraft and enhancing recharge capabilities. 

Additionally, the Period Evaluation addresses responses to DWR’s feedback on the Groundwater Sustainability Plans, ensuring alignment with state requirements and the long-term sustainability of the region’s groundwater resources.
