MAGSA Provides Financial Support to Resident in Need of New Well

A MAGSA landowner was recently the first person to receive financial support through MAGSA’s domestic well mitigation measures, marking an important milestone in the Kings Subbasin.

In alignment with California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), the MAGSA Board of Directors adopted a Domestic Well Mitigation Policy to help address the impacts of declining groundwater levels on domestic well owners. MAGSA developed this policy alongside the six other groundwater sustainability agencies in the Kings Subbasin as a coordinated response to feedback from the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).

The program is designed specifically for domestic wells used solely for household purposes that go dry, or fall within ten feet of going dry, as a direct result of groundwater level declines caused by pumping within the MAGSA service area.
